The Astrodome came closer to its original appearance on Sunday, December 8th when Cherry Companies removed the Helix ramps. The work, part of the ongoing Reliant Astrodome site work, had no impact the Astrodome structure itself. Watch from four angles as Cherry Companies makes short work of these ramps originally installed to accommodate additional seating added in the 1980’s.
The 100-foot concrete ramps, comprised of approximately 10,000 tons of concrete material, will be recycled at one of Cherry’s five Houston area recycling centers. Cleanup of debris is expected to take about four weeks to complete. Cherry Companies coordinated the work with Reliant Park, METRO, Harris County and the City of Houston.
